Cultural note: Haitian Vodou is an Afro-diasporic Haitian religion shaped by West and Central African traditions, Haitian history, Catholic encounter, family practice, and centuries of creolization. It is not simply a generic “African religion.” There is no universally fixed catalogue of Lwa. This program therefore uses a curated selection of widely documented spirits and families. Its rites are respectful, non-initiatory contemplative exercises—not authentic temple liturgy, possession ceremony, initiation, or a replacement for guidance from a manbo, oungan, or established Vodou community.
