Harvest Light Festival
Announcement: Harvest Light Festival
It is with deep disappointment and considerable frustration that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Harvest Light Festival.
We submitted our event proposal and made repeated efforts to move the planning process forward. Unfortunately, ongoing delays and unresolved coordination challenges have left us without enough time to responsibly organize an event of this size for Milestone and the surrounding communities.
This decision was not made lightly. Over the past five years, we have invested significant time, energy, and personal resources into creating a welcoming local event that has brought together people from all walks of life and from communities across Canada.
We are proud that the Harvest Light Festival has provided a space where people from many different backgrounds could gather, connect, and share a memorable experience. Seeing visitors travel from across the country to attend has shown us how meaningful this event has become.
At the same time, we have faced discouraging setbacks, including property damage, negative remarks, and continued resistance to our efforts. These challenges have been frustrating and disheartening, especially after years of working to create an inclusive event for the community. They have also made it clear that our current approach and location are no longer sustainable.
As a result, future Harvest Light Festivals will be held in a new location. While this chapter has been difficult, we intend to learn from the experience, rebuild, and return with a stronger and better-supported event.
To everyone who has attended, volunteered, travelled, encouraged us, and believed in what we were trying to create: thank you. Your support is the reason we remain committed to continuing the Harvest Light Festival in the years ahead.
We look forward to welcoming you again at a future festival.
